Cooler Master Cosmos S Model RC-1100-KkN1-GP Review

IntroductionPicture From Cooler Master Website

Cooler Master Cosmos S full tower PC Chassis is among of the best chassis or casing available for the hardcore gamers or the person who need more rooms for their PC hardware. Cooler Master Cosmos S is not just an ordinary case for your PC but it has a lot of features as an advantage from its competitors. In other words, Cooler Master Cosmos S provides a huge and flexible platform for hardware maniac out there who wants their CPU is set up into the maximum limits. Lets check out the main specification for this chassis :

Now, I am using this case and have located a lot of big hardware such as Cooler Master Gemin II Cooler with two 12cm fan, Full ATX Motherboard Asus Crosshair II, XFX Nvidia GTX260, three hard disk drive, two optical drive and five additional 12cm fan for ventilation. What can I say here, so far this case has provide me an enough space for my hardware but without SLI mode yet. We can say this is for normal system and amount of hardware use. Please have a look for my PC system below.

My Case

As Cool As Much We Want

The good reason why this case is fit for the hardcore gamers out there is because we can put until three more additional fan not including the fan provided by Cooler Master (already given three 12 cm fan) so the total 12 cm fan can fit in this case is about six units.

This case also providing a water cooling system platform which there are two hole with rubber fitter for in and out hose. This is mean we are able to use internal and external cooling system and radiator for maximum cooling.

Hard Disk bay also has provided with 12 cm fan with red LED to ensure the drive is always cool and stable. From the front, the lighting from fan LED has made the casing look so beautiful especially in the dark. But I want to suggest U to rotate the fan side and make the air flown out from the case not suck the air into the case. From my experience, the sucked air is not use full because inside the case there too many wires and parts so the air flow will not be as efficient as we want. It is better to remove the heat coming from the hard disk outside the case. At least the heat will not trapped inside the case isn't it. Hehe but this is just my opinion :-) You can let it be the same as U get from the box.

Ooopss not to forget, there one more fan included in the package which is the biggest fan for this case. If you are purchase this chassis with non glass side door, you will get the panel with fan included. It is 20 cm fan which provide much air flow for this case. This is show Cooler Master Cosmos S is really put a cooling condition in the first place. The different between Cosmos S and HAF 932 case is, your hardware inside will be protected from dust. Cosmos S has providing a filter for each fan intake system. But for HAF 932, yes the name was mean High Air Flow but it doesn't have any filter to protect the hardware inside.

Finally, if all the fan above is not enough for you, Cosmos S has been build by an Aluminum material to make sure the heat trapped inside the case and behind motherboard can be dissipate passively by the chassis. Humm, I think this too much cool for your CPU system especially if it was located into air conditioning room. No problem for cooling so now we have a look about its special features.

Switch Button & Extra Enterface

The most interesting features which makes me buy this chassis is because it is using touch sensor On/Off button. I think this is the first time CPU Casing using this kind of switch. If I am mistake please comment me ya :-). At the left side from the switch is the indicator LED for hard drives activity. Under the panel door, you can see 4 USB Port, Audio & Mic Jack, Fire Wire and e-Sata port. Under of it shows the symbol of each port indicate by red LED. The panel door can be close to avoid dust goes into the port. But only one problem, you must not put your skin into the panel because it is easier to auto shut down as it is using touch sensor. So be carefull.

Other Features

Other features is almost the same with other chassis. This chasiss provide screwless drive bay lock system. We just need to press blue Cooler Master logo button on the clip to lock or release it. The door panel also screwless. We just need to press the lock at the back of the chassis and the panel can be open easily. This is a usefull tool for the person who are always wants to modified the system.

Cosmos S package also will give a gift for you. You will get a brown cover for your chasis. When you dont want to used it for a long time, you can cover it using the cover.

Conclusion

Pros :
1) Great cooling system and platform
2) Huge room for hardware
3) A bit lighter for it size because using Aluminum
4) Sleek and great design.
5) Screwless tool
6) Many external port

Cons:
1) Very sensitive switch sensor

Overall, after using it about a few month and have change the hardware a few times, I really impressed with the case and I think this case will be an evergreen case and the design is relevence t used another more five years. I really like it although the price is a bit high but I am sure if you have already used it, you will not want to change to other case. In other mean, this is a good investment for your PC. I will not review it from the perfomance aspect because I am not the hardware tester but this review is about what I feel and my experience after using it myself.
